Eunice L. Mayo's Obituary
Eunice Lucille Mayo was born on April 9, 1922 in Madison County Tennessee to Gail Hanney and Fred Douglas Winston. She departed this life on May 12, 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Eunice lived in New York for many years where she met and married the love of her life, Ernest Mayo.
They were married in 1963 and enjoyed thirty-three years of married bliss, until his passing in 1996. They were active members of St. James Lutheran Church in East Cleveland for several years and later joined Hope Lutheran Church in Cleveland Heights.
Eunice attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee where she majored in business management. She worked as an administrative assistant in numerous companies in New York and Rhode Island. Later when her husband retired, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio and she continued her career in business.
Eunice and Earnest loved to entertain and to attend concerts and social functions. Her outgoing personality kept her busy planning events at her home and entertaining guests. Eunice loved to garden and had the most beautiful flowers in her yard. In her spare time, she would work word puzzles and was a champion in solving them.
Eunice was preceded in death by her mother, father, aunts and husband. She leaves to cherish her memory a cousin, Lonel (Barbara) Black of Detroit, Michigan, and many friends in Cleveland and Tennessee.
Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery 12316 Euclid Ave, Cleveland. Please meet at the cemetery.
