Shirley Jane Dettman's Obituary
Shirley Jane Dettman, 76, took her last breath on Sunday, May 15.
Shirley brought kindness and sunshine to every room, but her superpower was being kind.
She showed kindness, empathy, love and generosity for all living creatures. Through the last days of her life, she loved country line dancing, Zumba, playing bingo, spending time with family, with her two beloved cats, Catarina and Sandy, with all animals and in nature. She spent many years volunteering as a docent for Cleveland Metroparks zoo.
She had extra ordinary vitality, enthusiasm, drive, work ethic, loyalty, love, common sense and the ability to experience and share pure joy, and have fun.
Mom said the rosary every day of her life, and she never, ever missed even one Sunday of church. Ever.
Shirley was our mother, our hero, my best friend, but most importantly she was an inspiration to everyone she met in how to truly live life with enthusiasm.
Beloved wife of the late Don Dettman. Loving mother of Barb (Andreas) Morgen and Randolph (Dina) Colnar. Stepmother of Holly (Byron) Tracy and David (Louise) Dettman. Grandmother of Emily and Megan Colnar. Step grandmother of Emma and Julia Tracy and Chase Dettman. Sister of Leonard (Candy) Chester. Shirley will also be sadly missed by her two cats Catarina and Sandy.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 1 at St. Mary of Berea Catholic Church on kraft Street. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Shirley's name to the SPCA or the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is appreciated.
