Russell "Pete" Lingler Sr.'s Obituary
Russell D. "Pete" Lingler Sr., age 86, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Middlefield, Ohio. Born October 21, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harold and Joanne Lingler. Russell was beloved husband of Lynda for 67 years. They were married in 1959 and built a life together grounded in loyalty, hard work, and enduring love. Through the years, they shared many memories, many miles, and a partnership that stood as an example to all who knew them. Their marriage was a true testament to commitment and companionship.
He was a devoted father to Russell Jr. (Claudia) Lingler, Robert (Laurie) Lingler, and Janet (Dan) Heuser. Loving grandfather to Jennifer (Brian) Vozar, Russell III (Tawnya) Lingler, Stephanie (Scott) Lupan, David Lingler, Elizabeth (Dan) Larison, and Andrea. His legacy continues through his 11 great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and added another cherished generation to his family. He was also the brother of Joan Tucker and the late Harold Lingler, Edward Lingler, Willard Lingler, and Bart Pendley (Marie surviving). He was an uncle to many.
Russell spent the early part of his working life in his family's excavating business, where he learned the value of perseverance, responsibility, and honest labor. In 1974, he and Lynda took a bold step and bought their own tractor trailer, working together on their own until his retirement in 2008. His career reflected the determination and independence that defined him, and he took pride in the work he did and the life he built through years of steady effort.
Outside of work, Russell enjoyed sports of many kinds, especially baseball, football, and NASCAR. He had a special interest in racing and often raced cars at Cloverleaf. He also enjoyed camping and boating, and he found satisfaction in putzing around in his yard and manicuring his lawn.
Russell will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and someone who valued family above all else. His life was one of dedication, resilience, and quiet enjoyment of the things he loved most. He leaves behind a family who will forever treasure his memory and the many ways he touched their lives.
