Rosemary C. Canda (nee Gaby), age 83, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026. Born June 10, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Goetz) Gaby. Beloved wife of 63 years of Thomas Canda. Loving mother of Kathy (Scott) Maxwell and Kari Canda. Cherished grandmother of Stephen Maxwell, Kaleigh (Eric) Wheeler, Emily Maxwell (Christopher Chismar), Maddie Canda-Tucci (Matthew Lauren), Elizabeth Maxwell and Mya Canda-Tucci. Adored great grandmother of Addison Wheeler. Dear sister of Joseph Gaby Jr. (Carol). Loving aunt and great aunt.
Rosemary attended St. Elizabeth Grade School, Marymount High School and St. John College. She began her working career as an elementary school teacher at St. Wenceslas and finished her career at ICI Glidden Paints in their accounting department.
Rosemary had a passion for crafting, and she took great pleasure in creating with her hands and sharing the results of her work with those around her. She also enjoyed reading, but above all else, Rosemary cherished her family. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by the people she loved, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their care, support, and well-being.
Friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence, on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. Morning Prayers at the funeral home Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 9 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 6740 Broadview Rd., at 10 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
