Robert Eby's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Glenn Eby, 92, died peacefully at his home on February 14, 2026. He was born on September 10, 1933 to Ross M. Eby and Marguerite C. (Conner) Eby in Smithville, Ohio.
Bob was a 1951 alum of Smithville High School. He pursued an accounting degree from Kent State University and graduated in 1955. He worked one year at Shell Oil before entering the military in 1956. He was stationed in Japan for two years. Upon being discharged from the Army in 1958, he resumed his job at Shell Oil in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1959, Bob married the love of his life, Margaret (Marg) Ann Marthey. They resided in Independence, Ohio for over 58 years and had two sons. In 1966 he moved to Standard Oil Company (SOHIO), earned his MBA in Finance in 1973 from Case Western Reserve University, and he stayed with SOHIO for nineteen years, until retiring in 1985. In his post-retirement career he worked as a financial planner for seven years, retiring in 1992. Throughout his entire life, Bob was a devoted Cleveland sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Indians/Guardians on TV.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marie Stahl, and brother-in-law Chet Stahl. Bob is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Margaret; his sons Michael and Thomas (Michelle); his grandchildren Katelyn, Allison, Matthew, and Anna; and many nieces and nephews. Visitations will be Thursday February 19th from 4-6pm at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care 6505 Brecksville Rd. Independence. A Funeral Mass will be Friday 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church 541 Spring St. Orrville OH 44667. Burial Crown Hill Cemetery Orrville OH.
