Rafaella Marie Rybak's Obituary
Rafaella Marie Rybak, age 81, of Brecksville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. She was born on January 21, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Rafaella is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Don; her loving sons Dean and Dan, daughters-in-law Kim and Megan; and her cherished grandchildren Ryan, Brandon, Tessa, and Adam.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Fortunato DeFini and Josephine (Lavano), her siblings Josephine Bonaiuto (Frank), Charles DeFini, and Vincent DeFini (survived by dear sister-in-law Antoinette).
Rafaella began her career at Harris Seybold, supporting her husband while he attended college. She later devoted herself to raising her children as a stay-at-home mom, returning to work at Automatic Sprinkler during her sons’ high school years to help send them through college. Her selflessness and work ethic were unmatched.
While Rafaella enjoyed gardening, music, and bike riding, her greatest joy was always family. Nothing made her happier than gathering with loved ones, sharing stories from her youth, and breaking bread around the table.
Full of spunk and strength, Rafaella taught those around her to live with faith, work hard, save wisely, and stay grounded in love. She was immensely proud of her unique name and Italian heritage, and she carried both with grace and spirit.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation gathering Monday, October 20, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, 9183 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Brecksville Cemetery.
Rafaella often said, “If it’s going to be, it’s up to me,” and “God judges you on how you love.” Wise words from a woman who truly lived by them.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Church of the Assumption or a cancer research program of your choosing.
