We were a fortunate family! Our matriarch Grandma Caroline Maczka, immigrated here from Poland. Marrying Adam, she created the ultimate close knit family, with her children Florence, Rommy, and Henry (Hank, my dad), building homes next each other out in the country. Grandma's lush gardens and wonderful pastries, big yards, fields and woods, and cousins abound, such richness and fond memories to cherish - family picnics and cookouts, celebrations - communions, birthdays, and Christmas, fireworks, badminton, football, bike polo, baseball, laughter and fun! Nancy, the oldest of 'The Cousins' - the 1st of our photos to line the halls of Independence High. Nancy was the cousin I looked up to the most, beautiful, so very intelligent and talented in so many ways. Marrying Chuck, she followed in Grandma Maczka's footsteps creating her own beautiful family, nurturing the values we had all learned. Nancy, in particular, carried the family traditions more than any of us, especially with her gifts of baking - tedious and time-consuming, the language of love. She truly was an inspiration to all. Though distance and time have spread our family, I am grateful for the memories and timeless connection I had with my recents visits to the latest Matriarch of the Maczka clan, one whom I hold in high esteem. All my love to her beautiful children ~ Your Cousin Diane
