Laverne M Brooks, (nee Kortan), age 102, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 7, 2026. Born October 9, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Koberna) Kortan. Beloved wife of 68 years of the late Russell Brooks. Loving mother of Diane (Bob) Young, Dale (Julie) Brooks, Denise (Frank) Sorace and Doreen (Ryan) Hall. Cherished grandmother of Chris, Jason, Dustin, Heather, Matt and Lindsey. Great grandmother of Marissa, Caleb, Knowlton, Finnigan, Jase, Raelynn, Annalee, Ella, Easton, Noah and Natalie. Dear sister of the late George Kortan.
Laverne was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a lifetime friend who was dedicated to her faith and church. She was considered a 'Special Lady' and a 'Sweetheart' to all who knew her. She was a kind and gentle soul who touched many lives.
