Uncle Joe is fondly remembered as a good, decent, and charitable man, an accomplished artist, amateur musician and photographer, and a connoisseur of many art forms. Most of his career was spent as a designer of greeting cards for American Greetings. The chances are good that one of their cards you have sent probably contained his artwork. We have saved several of the cards he had designed. Whenever he received a card, he would always check the back to see if it was an American Greetings product. If it was one of his designs, he recognized it immediately. He shared many of his paintings and sketches with family members and friends as well as being a regular attendee and contributor to the annual May Show. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Topographical Draftsman with the 652nd Engineer Battalion, creating maps for the campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe and was awarded several medals including the Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars. His quick wit and smile, generosity, and incredible artistic talent will always be remembered.-Bill & Nancy Walczak
