John Kurt Strasser's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of John Kurt Strasser. Born on April 24, 1964 and passed at home, surrounded by family, on April 24, 2025. He is the beloved son of John Strasser and Jeanette Newport. Step son of David Newport(deceased). Devoted brother to Jackie(Jeff), Kimmy(Jimmy), Richie(Angie), and Becky(Tony). Loving husband and father to Lisa and their two daughters Breanna and Alexandra. God father to Hannah, Rachel, Emma, and Collin.
Best know as “Strasser,” dedicated his life to giving to his loved ones and making sure everyone was taken care of before himself. He was known for his ever-present smile, infectious laugh, colorful clothes, and an unwavering positivity that could light up any room. He had an incredible gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone he’d just met, John treated everyone with genuine warmth and respect.
After graduating Independence High School in 1982, he went to Bowling Green State University before becoming a roofer. He regularly enjoyed golfing and bowling; accomplishing three hole-in-ones, thirteen 300 series, and three 800+ series. A friend to all, John built meaningful connections across every generation. His friendships spanned decades and ages, each one a testament to his open heart and boundless generosity of spirit. He was someone you wanted to be around — full of life, full of love, and always ready to share a laugh or lend a hand.
John lived life the way it was meant to be lived — fully, joyfully, and with immense gratitude. His legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and deep connection. Though he is no longer with us in body, his light will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
In honor of John’s vibrant spirit, we will be gathering for a Celebration of Life at the home of one of his dearest friends. This informal gathering will be a time to share stories, laughter, and love in the way John would have wanted — surrounded by friends, joy, and the simple beauty of being together.
We kindly ask all who attend to wear something that John has made, or something bright, colorful, or loud — just like John did throughout his life. He had a bold, joyful style that matched his personality, and dressing in this way is one small way we can honor the unforgettable energy he brought into the world.
