John C. Carrig's Obituary
John C. Carrig, age 92 of Garfield Heights, passed away peacefully, Friday, December 26, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, October 24, 1933, he was the son of the late William and Julia (Rohal) Carrig. John was the loving husband of Barbara Louise, née Zemko (Deceased); cherished father of Timothy (Lisa) Carrig, Mary Beth Carrig Cassell (Edwin deceased) and Christopher (Barbara) Carrig. Adored grandfather of Shaun (Cherie), Kelly McClellan (Matt), Mark (Madison) Cassell. Great grandfather of Michael, Evie, Gabriel, Samuel, and Maxwell. Brother of William (deceased) (wife Michaeline), Patricia Sadowski (deceased) (husband Larry Sadowski), and June (Edward) Putka (both deceased). John is also survived by numerous cousins in County Clare, Ireland and Australia.
John was the Past President of the Instrument Society of America, Toledo, Chapter; Past Grand Knight of Garfield Heights Council 4130 Knights of Columbus; 4th Degree member Knights of Columbus for over 50 years; Past President of Holy Name High School Dads Club and was instrumental in the moving of the school from Harvard & Broadway to the present site.
He was the winner of the Holy Name Hall of Fame Arata Award, former Scoutmaster Troop 361 St. Therese Church, altar server at St. Therese Church, US Army Veteran Korean Conflict Helicopter Crew Chief, 5th RInfantry Regiment; life member of the VFW Post 9908, Kelleys Island and American Legion Post 421, Korean War Veteran's Association; the NRA, and the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association. Past President of the Kelleys Island Landowners Association and Water Board member of Kellys Island. John was also the founder of Carrig and Associates Inc., and attended John Carrol University, Fenn College and The University of Wisconsin.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubsksi Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence, on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 4 - 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Monday, January 12, 2026 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 5276 E. 105th St., Garfield Heights, Ohio at 11 a.m. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
