I first met Jan (and Paul) in high school. She was one of the varsity cheerleaders who selected me for the JV squad in her senior year and it didn't take long to learn why she was so well liked. Fast forward to recent years when we reunited through mutual friends. Although we didn't get together often, our husbands hit it off and we enjoyed those infrequently-shared moments. She and Paul were a beautiful couple with a once-in-a-lifetime relationship. Jan was one of the sweetest people I've ever met, and she will always have a special place in my heart.
