George D. Harabin, Sr., age 104, former resident for 61 years of Independence, passed away peacefully in Twinsburg Township, surrounded by his family on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Beloved husband of 65 years of the late Stella (nee Migliorino). Loving father of George Jr. (Anita), Randall, Dennis (Gail) and Nancy (Dave) Romanowski. Cherished grandfather of Lisa Cartellone (the late Jim), Cathy (Jim) Kavalec, Amy (Michael) Pavey, Renee (Mark) Stroik and Rachel Romanowski. Great grandfather of 12, great great grandfather of 3. Dear brother of Marie, Dorothy, Irene, Joann and the late Rose, Helen and Ann. Uncle of 34 and loved by many. George was a Sergeant of the U.S. Army during WWII, where he served for 46 months. He was a 77-year member of the Carpenter's Union, a 60-year member of St. Michael Holy Name Society and a member of The American Legion, Post 572 of Parma. Family will receive friends in THE VODRAZKA FUNERAL HOME OF INDEPENDENCE, 6505 BRECKSVILLE RD., (S. OF ROCKSIDE), FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2023 FROM 2-5 & 6-9 P.M. Closing prayers at the funeral home Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Catholic Church, 6912 Chestnut Rd., Independence, at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at dogood.t2t.org
