Genevieve "Jean" Grayson's Obituary
Genevieve "Jean" Grayson (nee Kabak), age 89 of North Royalton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, May 17, 2025. Born May 30, 1935 in Poland, Jean was the daughter of the late Andrew and Maria (Warsocki) Kabak.
Jean arrived at Ellis Island in the United States on October 1, 1949, traveling on a military vessel, The Sturgis. From there they went to Maryland, Virginia and then settled in Cleveland. She obtained an Associates Degree from Dyke College and spent her working career as an Administrative Assistant. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, playing pinochle, going to the casino and dancing, especially polkas and waltzing. She also loved visiting Edgewater Beach and Lake Erie, where she spent many good times with her family.
Jean was the beloved wife of 30 years to David L. Grayson, and the late Peter Evanko who preceded her in death in 1973. Loving mother of Christopher Evanko (MaryAnn), James Evanko (Stephanie) and Lisa Mealwitz (Scott). Stepmother of Bruce Grayson (Ellen) and David Grayson Jr., M.D. "BABA" to Emily Riley (Michael), James Evanko Jr. (fiance' Tracey), Jordan Evanko (Alicia), Christina Mealwitz, Maxwell Evanko (Arianna), Matthew Mealwitz, Kevin Mealwitz and Julianne Evanko. Great "BABA" of Aria Riley. Step grandmother, step great grandmother, aunt and great aunt to many. She was also preceded in death by her siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Church of the Assumption, 9183 Broadview Rd., Broadview Heights, at 10:30 a.m ( PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Diabetes Association or The Dementia Society.
