Florence "Flo" Kanta's Obituary
Florence Kanta, 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024. Beloved wife of the
late Stephen Kanta; loving mother of Joe (Claudia), Ken (Alice), Steve (Joyce), and Don.
Devoted Grandmother of Kate, Kristie (Sean), Amy, Jenni (Larry), Steve (Amy), Joe, Scott, and
Tammy. Great-Grandmother of Bradley, Madeline, Brooklyn, Jacob, Olivia, Steve, and Emmy.
Aunt and Great-Aunt to many. She is preceded in death by her parents Meran and Florence
Alexander, brothers Michael and Myron "Sonny" (Delores), sisters Betty Webb (Frank), Pat
Preisel (Bob), and Connie Crotty (Bob).
Flo, as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She cherished
her childhood growing up across from League Park. Flo enjoyed roller skating. It was at the
roller rink where she met and fell in love with her future husband, Steve. In later years, she
became an avid swimmer and accumulated an estimated 3,000 miles. Flo held a variety of jobs
at numerous locations over the years including White Motors, East Ohio Gas Company and
Sears.
Flo’s spirit will forever live in the hearts of those who were touched by her sense of humor, love
of family and faith in God. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica Church, 13623 Rockside Rd, Garfield Hts. on
Friday, March 8th at 12:00 noon with visitation starting at 11:30 am. Interment immediately
following at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Rittman, Ohio. A
celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at O’Neill Heathcare North Olmsted for their excellent
care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Flo’s name may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes
Shrine, 21281 Chardon Rd, Euclid, Ohio 44117.
