Eva E. Sorna's Obituary
Eva Sorna was called to heaven on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was the daughter of Josef and Maria Mayer and was born in Budapest, Hungary on April 18, 1940. There, she was a Freedom Fighter in the Hungarian Revolution before immigrating to Ohio in 1957.
While Eva had an unwavering love for her Hungarian culture, which she shared with all who knew her, she worked hard to build a better life for her family in America. She learned to speak English by doing crossword puzzles and, in her early days here, worked as a beautician while taking classes at Tri-C. After completing her studies, she began a career in medical records and retired from Alteon after over 20 years of service. Outside of work, Eva had a passion for learning and enjoyed reading and history. She also loved gardening and was an incredible cook, preparing traditional Hungarian recipes for all her loved ones, especially during Christmas.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ralph Sorna; son Kalman Jr. (Cindy) Toth; two grandchildren, Mary (Joseph) Arias and Athena (Dylan) Wolfe; niece Carrie (Jeff) Zukauckas; and nephew Keith (Dana) Sorna.
