Elmer E. Roote, age 96, of Independence, passed away Friday, October 2, 2020. Beloved husband of 62 years of the late LaVerne J. (nee Horton). Loving father of Jeffrey (Rita), Deborah Taddeo and Michael (Nancy). Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Brian, Christopher, & Timothy Roote, Jason Edwards (deceased), Adam Edwards, Sarah Edwards-Poliquin (Todd), Heather Faller (Stephen), & Natalie Irie (Ben). Elmer was a Wounded Combat Army Veteran of WWII. He married his childhood sweetheart and was a devoted father and grandfather. He was a noted community volunteer and a 32nd Degree Mason. Family will receive friends in THE VODRAZKA FUNERAL HOME OF INDEPENDENCE, 6505 BRECKSVILLE RD., (RT. 21, S. OF ROCKSIDE), TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2020 FROM 4-6 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 6912 Chestnut Rd., Independence at 10 a.m. Interment Mapleshade Cemetery.
