Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Connell's Obituary
Elizabeth Mae "Betty" Connell, 94, of Valley View, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026. Born March 5, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Lenora (Fosdick) Miller.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Battistone and the late Louis Connell. Loving mother of Mark (Kathy) Battistone and the late Lisa Pignatiello (husband Ken, surviving). Cherished grandmother of Alissa (Jordan) Barnes and great grandmother of Alana and Aleah Barnes. Dear sister of Eileen (Joe) Svejkovsky (both deceased), Gene Miller (wife Mary, deceased) and Kenny Miller (Alice Stachowiak). Aunt, great aunt and cousin of many. Stepmom of Mike Connell and Kim Biltz. Step grandmother of William "Billy" Drago and step great grandmother of Olivia Drago.
Betty was a 1951 graduate of South High. Several years later, she completed a training program that led her to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She went on to spend her career caring for patients at Jennings Nursing Home, where her compassion and dedication touched many lives.
Outside of her work, Betty enjoyed a wide range of interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved gardening and found satisfaction in tending to the beauty of growing things. She also enjoyed cooking, boating, being around the water, camping, and traveling, especially taking trips with friends. She had a special appreciation for movies, actors, and music, and she was known to be very knowledgeable about all of them.
Family was always at the center of Betty's life. She was deeply family oriented and loved her family dearly. She was known as a loving and thoughtful woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 4 - 7 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Betty will be laid to rest with her husband Louis at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
