Ed was a wonderful neighbor to my parents, Ted and Helen. I remember both Ed and Lilian fondly. God bless!

I sure got a chuckle out of David B’s memories of Mr Ed. Somethings never change! My family moved in on the other side of the Halmes family in 1963. Mr. Ed put up with the 4 kids in my family hitting balls into his perfect yard for years. He never seemed to mind. What a wonderful neighbor! We marveled at his stories of the war. Mr Ed had such a sharp mind till the end and he was truly a part of the greatest generation. He will be greatly missed.
When neighbors become friends and those friends become your extend family you are blessed. God blessed us with Ed and Lil. Our prayers are with all of you. Love Mark and Laurie
Ed was the nicest, kindest neighbor anyone could ever ask for. I can honestly say as a young, annoying kid, i cannot remember a single moment where Ed ever seemed to be bothered by my million persistent questions. He always had a smile and an answer ready to go. He truly seemed to get a kick out of someone showing interest in his "obsessive" knack for a perfect cut lawn, or perfectly trimmed shrubs, or even the perfect car wash he performed what seemed like every other day. Ed you could never know how much your impassioned kindness you showed to a young neighbor kid has helped shape me into the person I am today. And Ed if you are listening, I grew up to be just like you, I got my own neighbor kid with a zillion questions, and I will never ignore him, because you taught me better. Next time I see you, we will have to listen to an Indians game on the old radio.
