I met Danny in the 4th Grade and we were in constant trouble in class for talking back and forthÃ‚Â ever since.Ã‚Â Danny was one of a kind and one could recognize it even then.Ã‚Â We were only a year apart in age but it seemed like he was 10 years older and wiser than me.Ã‚Â Ã‚Â We shared many sports teams together starting in the 6th grade with the Lion's Muni Football teamÃ‚Â of which he was the captain and I wasÃ‚Â an end.Ã‚Â I think that the team stayed together for three seasons and we won the championship 3 years in a row.Ã‚Â Of course, I only remember two other teams in the league.Ã‚Â After that the group was split into two groups with half the guys going on to South High and the other half going to Holy Name.Ã‚Â Dan played all the sports and excelled in Football & Basketball but that was his last year as a football playerÃ‚Â when his dad, JohnÃ‚Â declared that he wouldÃ‚Â focus on Basketball in the future.Ã‚Â We will all miss you Dan. Condolences to the Holloran family. I played senior softball with Danny in leagues and on many tournament teams. A fabulous team player that made everyone laugh! Nobody could tell a joke or do an impersonation better than him. Best of all he was a kind and thoughtful human being.Ã‚Â

Echoing the others here, and other grade school Namers, allow sincerest condolence to Mr. Holloran's family.Never underestimate how important he was in shaping and challenging us as young people, and as athletes.He was the first person to stress "fundamentals". A sporting word I never heard before him. Drills and discipline.Ã‚Â How to bounce pass. Who knew?Every now and then he would treat us to his famed half court shot. And this, because he remembered having been where we were. He pushed and pushed. And also rewarded with encouragement and praise.We were so young. He understood us.Ã‚Â I'll never forget him. He challenged me to take risk as an athlete, and to overcome the fear of risk, as a kid. And in such a short window. Impact.His kindness and time sacrifice, like all our Holy Name coaches, have always been a part of my life. I hope that I have carried it forward.My warm regards to his family. Danny boy. I have no greater friend. I will not only forget the years that we hooped together at HNHS, but more importantly, I am grateful that we stayed in contact throughout the last 60 years. Over those years I always looked forward to our Cleveland trips and spending time with Patty. It was like we were never apart.
