I let D2 take our new Lincoln for a drive one night and he floored it going down Riverview and scared the hell out of me as he was smiling away.
My cousin Dan was like an older brother to me. I have two fond memories of Dan, or "Jethro" as my Mom would like to call him when we were kids. We used to travel frequently from MI to visit the Badarzynski's for holidays and birthdays. One year the Cleveland gang wanted to visit the Badar's for Easter and share a good Easter ham with us. Well, sometimes the best laid plans don't always work the way you expect. Uncle Ray's Lincoln was not running, so they had to pack the family into a two door Mustang. I couldn't stop laughing when the 'Stang pulled into the driveway and the whole crew piled out of the car. Dan was wrapped up like a pretzel and he told his Dad he was going to hitch-hike home! We got a lot of mileage out of that story. The other memory I have is on one of our trips to Independence over the summer, I saw a mini-bike sitting in the garage that I wanted to ride. Dan said "that thing doesn't work and we can't get it running." I desperately wanted to ride it. I think I was 14 or 15. I loved to hang out with my Dad working on cars so I learned quite a bit about engines. So I decided to put my "expertise" to work. Somehow I got it running and Dan came over and nicknamed me, "Mini-bike Mike". Whenever I hear any conversation about Dan, I always remember the Mini-bike Mike story! Dan made me feel good because he was always laughing, and had a smile on his face. He had a very gentle, loving heart! I will miss him deeply.
