Dale Robert Christ's Obituary
Dale Robert Christ, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 17 years, Ellie Nape; his children from his first marriage to Janet Christ, Jason (Jaime) and Judi (James Dickson); and his cherished grandchildren: Addison, Eli, and Piper Christ, and Lucas and Juliet Dickson.
Born on September 17, 1949, to the late Ellsworth and Ruth Christ, Dale grew up in Independence, Ohio, and graduated with the class of 1967 from Independence High School. While attending Cleveland State University, Dale completed the civil service test and graduated from the police training academy. He began his career as a Police Officer with the City of Independence, working nights while earning his degree in Business. Dale served the Independence community with dedication from 1971 to 1999, retiring proudly as a Lieutenant.
In retirement, Dale enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Warren, Pennsylvania, which was lovingly built by his father. He found joy in birdwatching from the farmhouse he shared with his wife Ellie, where they spent their final years together. Dale and Ellie often took road trips to explore the beautiful landscapes across the United States. A lifelong Cleveland Indians fan, Dale never gave up hope of witnessing their elusive World Series win.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 6705 Brecksville Road, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Vodrazka Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a nonprofit organization supporting families and colleagues of police officers killed in the line of duty.
