Carol Ann Braverman's Obituary
Carol Ann Braverman (née Rybicki), of Independence, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 25, 1939, in Cleveland, Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Sophie (Zolnowski) Rybicki and dear sister to the late Rita. Carol was the cherished wife of 57 years to the late Jack R. Braverman. She was a loving mother to John Mark Braverman and Anni Braverman (William Wooten), and a devoted grandmother to Lillian and Liam Wooten.
A graduate of Independence High School, Carol earned her Bachelor's Degree from Ohio University. She began her career teaching Home Economics at West Technical High School. She later worked as a librarian at the Brecksville Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.
Carol especially enjoyed spending time with family; she loved family traditions and hosting holidays. Carol was an avid gardener, skilled seamstress, excellent cook, and artist. She held leadership roles with the Independence Art Guild, where she taught classes including her popular wreath-making workshops, and encouraged others to explore their own creativity. For many years, she organized an annual Independence Art Show to bring artists and neighbors together in celebration of community. She also enjoyed her participation in the Western Reserve Herb Society, Master Gardeners of Cuyahoga County and Stan Hywet Needlework Guild.
Carol will be remembered for her kindness and creativity. She will be greatly missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank are suggested.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10-11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at St. Michael Catholic Church, 6912 Chestnut Rd., Independence, at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Maple Shade Cemetery.
