Barbara Topolski's Obituary
Barbara Topolski, (nee Rembowski), age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Sunday, May 3, 2026. Born September 23, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Lottie (Baran) Rembowski. She was the beloved wife of 61 years of George Topolski. Loving mother of Lisa (Jim) Polak, John (Lisa), Tom (Anne), Tim, Jason and Matt (Kelly). Cherished grandmother of Jay, Cassie, Chloe (Mike), Faith, Luke, Analise, Addilyn and Olivia. Dear sister of Connie (Chuck) Gillum and the late James Rembowski. Sister-in-law of Barbara Jender (the late Wes) and the late Dottie Ornas (the late Robert). Loving aunt and great aunt.
Barbara was a graduate of Marymount High School and went on to attend St. Vincent Charity School of Nursing and St. John's College, where she earned her nursing degree, however, Barbara's greatest calling was her role as a mother. She devoted herself to raising her six children, guiding them with patience, love, and unwavering support. Her home was a place of comfort, encouragement, and security, and she gave of herself freely in countless ways to ensure her children were cared for and loved. In addition to caring for her own family, she also looked after many other children over the years as she babysat them, extending her nurturing heart beyond her own household. Her care left a lasting impression on all who knew her, and many families were blessed by her presence and trustworthiness.
Barbara found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, and was also an avid reader, finding enjoyment and companionship in the pages of a good book. In quieter moments, she liked watching soap operas. She especially enjoyed talking with her grandchildren and updating them on the latest happenings, sharing conversation, laughter, and the special connection that only a grandmother can provide.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her loving nature, her kind heart, and her selfless devotion to family and friends. She had a way of making people feel cared for and valued, and her presence brought comfort to those around her. Her life was a reflection of quiet strength, generosity, and enduring love. She gave so much of herself to her family and to others, and her legacy will live on in the memories, lessons, and affection she leaves behind.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 6912 Chestnut Rd., Independence, at 10 a.m. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to a charity of your choice.
