Antonio Mariano Deliberato's Obituary
Antonio Mariano Deliberato, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at the venerable age of 97. Born on April 1, 1928, to the late Domenich and Agata Deliberato (nee Scheida), Antonio's journey through life was marked by dedication, innovation, and a boundless love for his family and passions.
Antonio's legacy as a loving husband is remembered through his 55 years of marriage to the late Matild Lenke Deliberato (née Bakodi). He was a devoted father to Annette and Donald Deliberato, a caring brother to the late Marie Carmen Klimczuk, and a doting grandfather to Brian Deliberato Kimberlin. His warmth extended to his nephews, Richard, Raymond (Michele), Russell (Liz) and Ronald Klimczuk and niece, Diane Mlinarcik (the late Charles), all of whom will miss his guiding presence dearly.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Antonio was honorably discharged in 1947, after which he embarked on a notable career as a Draftsman and Engineer. His innovative work in designing clamshell buckets spanned 30 years, during which he made significant contributions to Owen Bucket Co. and Anvil Attachments. His professional life was a testament to his meticulous nature and his drive to excel in his field.
Tony's influence extended far beyond his professional endeavors. In the automobile world, he was nothing short of a legend, revered as the Godfather of racing at Dragway 42, Thompson Drag Raceway, and Norwalk/Summit Motorsports Park. His passion for cars was infectious, and he became a magnet of knowledge and accomplishment. Tony's love for beer can collecting, coins, and stamps reflected his appreciation for history and the stories they told.
His machine shop was a sanctuary where he mentored and assisted fellow racers, helping them to achieve their dreams on the track. Tony's insatiable curiosity was evident in his constant tinkering, reading, and expanding his understanding of history. He had a profound love for nature and animals, which was beautifully illustrated by his commitment to raising Monarch butterflies. Together with Annie and Don, he built a habitat for the caterpillars and delighted in witnessing their transformation.
Tony's affection for his daughter's dog, Reggie, was well-known, as their walks at Garfield Park brought him immense joy. His sharp intellect never waned, and he remained an avid fan of Jeopardy, always ready to challenge his mind.
Antonio Mariano Deliberato was a unique, strong, smart, and innovative individual whose impact on the lives he touched will be felt for generations to come. As we bid farewell to Tony, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a life rich with achievements, love, and an unwavering spirit of discovery. He will be profoundly missed by many.
Services are private by request and a committal service will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in the Spring of 2026, in celebration of his 98th birthday where both he and his wife, Matild will be interred.
