Agnes A. Friend's Obituary
Agnes A. Friend (nee Jelinek), age 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Friday, February 27, 2026. Born April 6, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, Agnes was the daughter of the late Ernest and Libbie (Hauner) Jelinek. Beloved wife of the late William L. Friend. Loving mother of Steven (Chrissy) Friend and Leslie Friend. Cherished grandmother of Asher, Reagan, Caleb, Isaac and Elliott. Dear sister of Janet Horwath (the late Larry) and Laura Veverka (Kenny). Dear aunt of many.
Agnes was a graduate of Garfield Heights High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Fenn College of Cleveland State University. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, later transitioning to a learning disabilities teacher, retiring from Bedford City Schools. She was a life long member of Sokol Greater Cleveland and she enjoyed crocheting and making Christmas cookies.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Vodrazka Golubski Deliberato Funeral Care, 6505 Brecksville Rd., Independence, on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 1-4 p.m. immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Interment at a later date at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
